Duvet FAQs
How often should I wash duvets?
Should duvets be dry cleaned?
What duvets do hotels use?
Which duvet tog is right for me?
While hotels wash bed linen after every use, duvets don't require the same level of upkeep. It's recommended to wash duvets every few months. If your machine does not have a duvet setting, we would advise sending to a professional cleaner.
Duvets with natural fibres, like a Goose Down Duvet, and duvets with synthetic fibres, like our Hollowfibre Duvets, are washing machine friendly. So you do not need to send it to a dry cleaner. We would only recommend sending to a dry cleaner if your washing machine is too small for the duvet or doesn’t feature a duvet wash setting. Please always follow the care instructions included on the duvet.
Hotels will typically use either a synthetic or natural duvet. If guests have allergies, then a natural duvet, like Goose Down, is not suitable and you would need to supply a synthetic option, such as Microfibre. Our range of duvets are trusted by leading hotels such as The Hard Rock Hotel and Center Parcs. Team our duvets with our range of bed linen for that authentic hotel feel.
Which duvet tog you choose depends entirely on your preference and the weather. During the winter, it's typical to opt for a higher tog to keep warm, while lower togs provide a comfortable night's sleep in the summer. Hotels typically use a 10.5 tog duvet all year round so you do not need to store alternative options, important when space may be an issue. If you are happy to swap duvet with the season, an All Season Duvet allows you to switch effortlessly from a light 4.5 tog to a warmer 9 tog - fasten them together and you'll have an extra cosy 13.5 tog duvet to see you through the winter.
