Tired walkers could slip into white bed linen

A walking holiday could be a green vacation option for Britons wishing to explore some of the attractions that the UK has to offer.

And after a along day's hiking or strolling, they may like nothing more than to tuck themselves into some white bed linen and get a good night's sleep ready for another day ahead.

Indeed, hotel and B&B owners may wish to make information available for their guests detailing where there are walking trails nearby before drawing up a hearty menu for visitors to enjoy before they set out.

The new coalition government appears to be keen to promote physical methods of travelling, such as walking and cycling - both of which could be good activities for a holiday.

Des de Moor, senior everyday walking officer at the Ramblers, said that many city centres are now also improving their walking and cycling facilities, with London being "really transformed" and plans underway in Liverpool to build a coastal path along the river front.

Such news could mean that there are also opportunities for city-based holiday accommodation that wishes to promote the benefits of walking.
