Testing wholesale bedding and pillows 'all part of the job'
Many people might want to have the job of testing beds and pillows but for one member of a UK hotel chain, it is all in a day's work.
Testing wholesale bedding is the task that falls to Premier Inn's product manager Alicia Clegg and apparently there is a science to the whole process.
At least once every fortnight she checks into one of its rooms to find out how comfortable they are to sleep in and this involves bouncing up and down on the bed, making sure the mattress has no dips and even assessing whether guest couples could roll into each other.
The employee told the Financial Times that her biggest challenge is to find products that suit all tastes whether they are petite women or 20-stone men, so making sure the white bed linen is up to scratch seems to be only part of the job.
One place that appears to have met a number of tastes is Coulscott House, in the seaside village of Combe Martin in North Devon.
According to one visitor writing in the Daily Mail, its five "charming" bedrooms are "meticulously prepared" right down to the fluffy towels and freshly cut flowers.
