Rent out second homes 'for extra cash'
The summer ahead looks likely to be a hot one and with many Britons hoping to take advantage of the good weather by holidaying in the UK, now could be a good time to rent out a second home.
Emma Baber, who runs Stacks Property Search, tells the Daily Mail that there are just a few rules to keep in mind when renting out a property to guests.
While investing in quality white bed linen, pillows and towels may be something owners will have to do on a regular basis, she claims that it is best to keep the interior and exterior simple overall.
Meanwhile, Bedfordshire insurance specialist Tracey Warren said: "Features such as plasma TVs, dishwashers and high quality furniture are regarded as must-haves by increasingly demanding holidaymakers."
Ms Baber explains that location can be one of the most important factors in attracting guests and that those which will perform best will be situated close to pubs, restaurants, shops or the beach.
Properties in a coastal area could also do well to be kitted out with a wet room stocked with wholesale towels where holidaymakers can clean-up after a day hitting the waves.
The Daily Mail's David Dillon recently detailed a holiday he enjoyed in Devon and revealed that he had been impressed with the tidy presentation of the towels and bedrooms.
