Older people 'enjoy visiting Ireland'
Ireland offers "outstanding" value for money, according to one sector commentator, which makes it the perfect destination for older travellers.
Indeed, bed and breakfast owners in Ireland may wish to stock up on hotel supplies in preparation for a potential influx of "silver surfers", who Shaun Rodgers, managing director of Real Ireland, said could benefit from the host of accommodation and travel offers on offer.
"The relaxed pace of life, especially in the west and north-west of Ireland, will appeal," he added.
Mr Rodgers recommended that older people try out the host of restaurants and bars in Ireland, which in addition to offering value for money, can also provide the opportunity to enjoy some traditional local music.
He went on to advise visitors to take a car so that they can explore more of their surroundings.
Figures from Ireland's Central Statistics Office recently revealed that 1.08 million people visited the country from overseas in the first quarter of 2010.
