Hotel supplies planned as holiday flat conversion revealed
Plans have been submitted to turn a hotel in Southend into holiday flats for people to rent.
But before the owners start stocking up on new hotel supplies, they will have to wait and see if their application is accepted by Southend Borough Council.
According to the Echo, the Tower Hotel in Alexandra Road was previously used as accommodation by the youth players at Southend United during the football season.
However, applicant Paul Stannard now plans to convert the four-storey building into a series of one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom apartment for holidaymakers.
A design statement for the property explained that it was not viable to modernise it as a traditional hotel as too many bedrooms would be lost to make space for a spa, gym, pool and children's facilities.
But if the plans are accepted, Mr Stannard could soon be shopping for luxury spa supplies to make guests' stays even more relaxing.
Meanwhile, the Independent has reported that a town hall in London's East End is to be reopened as a hotel.
