Harrods hotel and restaurant require luxury linens

Rumoured hotel project

As one of the world's most infamously upmarket brands, if Harrods follows through on plans to construct a hotel on top of the current building, it could be one of the most luxurious known to man. There could also be a luxury restaurant in the works, which would compete with the 32 eating establishments already operating in Harrods. The department store in Knightsbridge is the largest in the world, covering 20,000 square metres, and is over a century old.

However, the London Evening Standard reports that the company's new owners, Qatari Holdings, are looking at several options to improve revenues and reputation. One of these includes building a hotel on the roof of the store, and possibly opening a Harrods-branded restaurant on the fourth floor. Managing director Michael Ward told the Standard, "Have we considered it? Yes. It is something we would do".

Famous luxury

Harrods stocks some of the most expensive and luxurious products in the world, including womenswear, menswear, jewellery, ornaments and gifts. The store famously sold a £62,000 pair of gem-encrusted sandals in 2007, and is decorated with jaw-dropping statues, sculptures, and chandeliers.

It's therefore easy to imagine the level of quality and class that would be required by the hotel and restaurant. Like the nearby One Hyde Park residential development, the Harrods hotel could choose luxurious bath linen provided by Richard Haworth. However, it goes without saying that the Harrods Hotel would showcase some of the best UK-made linens, bedding and hotel supplies available.
