Guide to the Perfect Pillow

Guide to the perfect Pillow Choosing your perfect pillow can make such a difference in how you sleep. A pillow is just as important as a good mattress in ensuring a good restful night’s sleep. Whether it is filled with polyester, cotton, feathers or hollow fibre, the right pillow can help prevent sleep deprivation and health problems. This is why it is so important to take your time in choosing your pillows. That is why Richard Haworth is on hand to help you find your perfect pillows. You can choose from our full range of high quality hotel pillows to suit your every need and most importantly your hotels needs. We have a wide range of pillows from our Micro Fibre pillows to our luxurious Goose Down Feather pillows. We have a pillow to suit any bedding setting;

Our Clusterfill Pillows are available in Standard, Euro (Square) and 3ft Pillow. Perfect for UK hotels, our best selling Clusterfill pillows are perfect bedding pillows made from cotton outer and polyester fill inner.

Goose Down & Feather the Pillows are the ultimate in luxury. Made from the finest goose down (80%) and fine feathers (20%),  the pillow is encased in a 100% cotton cambric cover with a fine 233 thread count. Our Goose Down Feather Pillows are available in Standard and Euro sizes. Note Natural Feather pillows do not have strong bounce back features, so need to be maintained daily to regain their loft. To learn how to fluff a pillow back to their original loft, please see the video below.

Our Hollow fibre Pillows are available in Standard, Euro and 3ft Pillow. These bedding pillows have a polycotton outer and hollow fibre polyester inner.All our pillows can be laundered in large capacity machines, but ensure you only wash one pillow at a time.  Pillows typically have a more limited lifespan when compared to duvets. This is because the weight of our heads will deteriorate the level of support over the years. Natural pillows will keep their shape and level of support much longer than synthetic, but will require you to plump up the pillows regularly, as mentioned above.

You can wash all our pillows following their wash care instructions. We would recommend washing and drying on a pillow/duvet setting on your washing machine, as too strong a spin may mean parts of your pillow clump up and it will take time to tease these fibres back apart. Washing pillows should not be done regularily, instead getting the best from your pillows requires the use of a pillow protector and a pillowcase. Richard Haworth has a wide choice of quilted polypropylene or our revolutionary Prima plain weave fabric, prolong the life of your pillow with this added layer of protection from marks and stains. Our quilted polypropylene pillow protector is perfect for improving your sleeping comfort and making your pillows more durableUsing our revolutionary plain weave, cotton-rich Prima fabric, the prima pillow protector with ties stays white wash after wash.

Make sure you have considered your style of sleeping when purchasing your pillows if you sleep on your back or stomach you might prefer a soft or medium pillow that is not too thick and will mould to your head and neck to give you comfortable gentle support. Choose a firm or dense pillow if you sleep on your side, as this will offer the most support for your spine, head and neck in that position. If you have wide shoulders and sleep on your side you may prefer to use two pillows – a popular combination is a firmer bottom pillow and a softer top pillow.
