Go seasonal with menus, MasterChef judge tells restaurant supplies users
The Eat Seasonably initiative is fronted by Gregg Wallace, one half of the judging team on BBC One's MasterChef.
He told Big Hospitality that all the country's top chefs use seasonal produce in their kitchens and the public are increasingly expecting to see these sorts of dishes on restaurants' menus.
"Now is the time for businesses to join the growing movement and be seen as leaders in this field," he added.
According to the campaign, buying fruit and veg in the summer can be up to a third cheaper compared to purchasing the same items out of season.
Furthermore, growing in season is better for the environment, as it requires lower levels of artificial inputs.
Supporters of the initiative include the Soil Association, the Royal Horticultural Society and Food Lovers Britain.
