Can even wedding napkins help couples express themselves?
Choosing a wedding theme can be a great way for couples to express themselves on their big day, it has been claimed.
From designing the flowers and cake, to picking wedding napkins and tablecloths that fit into the specified colour scheme, Helen Webster, editor of Perfect Wedding, said it is important for brides and grooms to be able to add individuality to their celebrations.
She added that if couples have a strong attachment to a particular hobby or interest they are likely to want their reception to reflect this.
Her comments come after the Sun reported that Angela Ayrton and Gary Kerley recently tied the knot wearing Fiona and Shrek costumes and encouraged their guests to also come dressed as their favourite animated character.
However, Mr Webster explained: "A lot of the time [couples] tend to be influenced by the venues people are choosing. For example if someone has a very medieval venue they might opt for a more medieval theme."
She added that fancy dress weddings are still quite rare.
