Blackpool B&B wins industry award
Blackpool has been a firm holiday favourite with British travellers for generations and now the town has picked up a number of industry awards.
Bed and breakfast establishment Number One South Beach must have laid out its best tablecloths as it was named B&B of the year in the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards, the Blackpool Gazette reports.
The judges pointed to the property's high level of service and warm welcome, teamed with the quality of its breakfast - with all of the ingredients sourced locally.
Meanwhile, the town's zoo picked up the award for best large attraction, while the Pleasure Beach was also highly commended.
Mike Wilkinson, chief executive of the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, said: "There's no doubt the last couple of years have been extremely challenging and for those who have succeeded in enhancing and improving the visitor experience ... this has required admirable innovation."
Elsewhere, a hotel in the beach resort of Brighton was recently commended by the Daily Mail for its luxurious beds.
