"Anything goes" at Brighton B&Bs
Brighton has a laid-back and easy-going atmosphere, it has been said, and holidaying Britons may be attracted to the area on the basis of this.
Indeed, when purchasing hotel supplies with which to give a bed and breakfast a makeover, the owners of such establishments may wish to ensure that the accommodation they provides offers guests the best chance to relax and unwind after a day enjoying all Brighton has to offer.
Charlotte Barrow, marketing officer for VisitBrighton, said the people of Brighton enjoy an "anything goes spirit", while a holiday there affords all of the benefits of being in a big city, but with close proximity to the sea.
"You've got the culture, shops, restaurants and then the traditional seaside delights as well with the beach and everything," she added.
In terms of accommodation, Ms Barrow explained that there are traditional large seaside resorts, such as the Grand Metropolitan, while there are also plenty of "quirky boutique B&Bs", meaning there is something for everyone.
According to TripAdvisor's 2010 Travellers' Choice Destination, Brighton came second to Edinburgh in the top 25 UK destinations.
York, London, Liverpool, Wells in Somerset, the Isle of Skye, Loch Lomond, Islay and St Ives in Cornwall completed the top ten, proving that whatever Britons want from a holiday there are sure to find a UK destination that offers it.
