Research 'can avoid hidden costs of hotel supplies'
Britons have been advised to do their research before booking accommodation for a holiday.

While fluffy wholesale towels and quality white bed linen may be the least that a traveller expects to get for free when checking into a hotel, Alison Couper, global communications director at Hotels.com, said that it can be easy to forget that some other hotel supplies may cost extra.

Her comments come after a survey by Hotels.com revealed that 78 per cent of respondents claimed their pet hate when staying at hotels is having to pay to use wireless, which they believe should be free.

Having to fork out for parking spaces was also listed by 73 per cent of travellers as being among their peeves, along with paying for a newspaper (57 per cent) and bottled water left in the room (70 per cent).

"The best thing to do is fully research your hotel stay before clicking on the book button. Find out if the hotel has free wifi, or if additional services such as using the gym and car parking are charged for," Ms Couper recommended.
