Britons looking to get away from it all with an autumn break in the UK may wish to head to the north-east.
Geoff Hodgson, chair of the North East Tourism Advisory Board, said that the region offers the chance to enjoy some "peaceful tranquillity", which could make it the ideal location to get away from it all and relax in
wholesale bedding.
"There's an exceptional view around every corner, from the splendour of Northumberland's rolling hills to Tees Valley's soaring cliffs and County Durham's green dales - not to mention our lush forests, golden sandy beaches and sparkling sea," he explained.
And once Britons have got all the rest they need after sending some nights wrapped up in whiter bed linen, there is plenty for them to explore and get involved in.
Mr Hodgson suggested people visit England's highest waterfall, which is located in the region, or spend the day shopping at one of its cities, such as Newcastle Gateshead or Durham.
According to the North East Tourism Advisory Board, the Great North Museum was recently listed in the VisitEngland Top 20 free attractions on offer in the UK.
