Hotels hoping to increase their occupancy levels should consider purchasing sustainable materials for their rooms, it has been claimed.
Writing for CateringSearch.com, Elaine Williamson said eco-friendly
hotel supplies are becoming increasingly trendy in the hospitality design marketplace.
Antimicrobial
white bed linen is currently "making a strong statement", she explained, while carpets and bathroom textiles made from these materials are boosting guest numbers as well.
"Many boutique hotels are also offering these items for purchase, giving them a strong retail bump to boot," Ms Williamson stated.
Natural wood floors are experiencing a revival, she added, with limestone and honed marble also doing well as owners try to improve their environmental credentials.
Those looking for cost-effective ways to update their guest houses were advised to bring in new
hotel supplies such as pillows and cushions.
Keeping
white bed linen clean was recently highlighted by Channel 5's Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi as a great way for homeowners to make their sleeping areas as luxurious as professional establishments.
