London 'a world-class tourist destination'
London has been named as a world-class tourism destination, which may be good news for Britons looking to take a domestic break in order to save money this year.

While they could expect to indulge in luxury spas supplies or sit down to tablecloths laden with the latest trends in culinary fare, there are also plenty of free activities to keep people busy while holidaying in the capital.

Indeed, Emma O'Boyle, spokesperson for TripAdvisor, said: "Travellers should remember that a trip to London doesn't need to be expensive. London has so much to offer travellers on a budget from free museums to beautiful parks."

She added that there are many good quality but inexpensive hotels available to stay at in the city if people are prepared to do their research before they travel, particularly if they opt to stay in zone 2.

Ms O'Boyle continued that visitors can also save money by travelling by bicycle, taking advantage of London's new hire scheme.

TripAdvisor recently revealed that the Imperial War Museum and the National Gallery - both in London - are the top two free attractions on offer in the UK.
