One newspaper's hotel inspector has reviewed a recent visit to McCoys at the Tontine, near Northallerton in North Yorkshire.

The Daily Mail's Inspector notes that the bedroom they were put in was "big" and had a sleigh bed, which may have also featured white bed linen.

Additional hotel supplies featured in the room included a free-standing bath, desk and a "Narnia-type wardrobe".

The writer notes that celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White have both dined at the venue and reportedly enjoyed their experience.

Indeed, the Inspector claims that their lunchtime meal of crab salad and soup is "perfect", while the atmosphere in the restaurant was "great", with music by The Who and The Beatles played for diners.

Overall, the writer rates the hotel as four stars.

Elsewhere the Daily Mail's Sally Shalam, recently revealed that she had enjoyed a stay at the Wild Garlic restaurant in Dorset, which is owned by MasterChef winner Mat Follas.
