Dine at tablecloths laden with gold desserts in NY
Britons planning a trip to New York can feast on a luxury chocolate dessert decorated with gold at one restaurant - if they have £15,730 to spare.

Diners at Serendipity 3 in the Big Apple willing to fork out can sit down to tablecloths laden with not one, but two decadent chocolate puds.

The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate has already entered the Guinness World Records as being the world's most expensive sweet and contains edible 24 carat Swiss gold and served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with a gold and diamond bracelet around the neck.

Meanwhile, the Grand Opulence Sundae, which was created for the eatery's 50th anniversary and costs £630, is eaten with a gold spoon and lined with gold leaf.

Britons may find that after they have forked out on the puds they have considerably less left over to spend on where they stay, although there are plenty of budget options in New York where they could relax on white bed linen following their opulent dish.

Desserts decorated in gold leaf are also available in the UK, with Zoe Williams, in an article for the Telegraph, recently reporting her friend enjoyed such a sweet at London restaurant Gauthier.
